    About Manta Rack Systems

To solve the problem of boards taking up valuable space and causing damage, we developed a patented rack system that uses pre-existing fishing rod holders, securely storing boards on the boat's gunnel without drilling holes. Now all of your boards are out of the way of your passengers, securely fastened to a rack system.

If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll spend his entire life buying gear, getting sunburned at the lake, and dreaming about reeling in his next catch. Ok, that isn’t the original saying, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Adding a new lure, replacing a rusty reel, or picking up a new rod is half the fun.

And that’s why experienced anglers respect their gear and protect it. That’s especially true with fishing rods because they’re usually first to snap or get tangled. Fishing rod holders get your precious gear out of the way and out of trouble. You can also catch more fish, with multiple lines out!

With a fishing rod holder you don’t have to worry about a broken rod, tangles, or unnecessary tripping hazards. But there are more advantages than just that! Keep reading to learn them all.

Why Fishing Rod Holders Are Essential

Whether you fish in freshwater or saltwater, chances are, you have more than one fishing rod. And that’s true for fishermen who stick to the dock, as well as for ones who like to get out on the water. That’s why installing several fishing rod holders on your boat or dock makes a lot of sense.

Having a safe space to store your rod is super helpful. But what’s even better is having multiple lines out at once. More lines = more opportunities to catch fish. Let’s dig in a little deeper below:

Cast Multiple Lines Out at Once

This is probably the best reason to utilize fishing rod holders because chances are, you’ll catch more fish when you’ve got more lines out. You’ll typically see mounted fishing rod holders on saltwater docks in canals and inlets. And freshwater anglers use them too.

It’s great – cast your lines out, secure your rods in their rod holders, and fish with a rod yourself if you want to. Or relax and let your fishing rod holders do the heavy lifting. It’s like fishing with 5 hands! (Or however many rods you’re using.)

Organize & Use Different Types of Fishing Poles

Choosing the right rod depends on what you wish to fish for, and where you are. And that’s why it’s fun to have a variety of rods! For instance, freshwater fishermen utilize spinning rods, ultralights, fly rods, and trolling rods. Saltwater rods are usually made out of fiberglass, graphite, or a combo of the two. From fly fishing rods to surf fishing rods, they’re often longer and more sturdy, with heavier lines to account for heavier fish. Some ocean anglers even pick up a surf fishing rod to fish from the shoreline. As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to have more than one rod!

However, having multiple rods makes storage and multitasking a challenge. This is especially true if you’re fishing with a buddy or have the family aboard. While some anglers might pile their rods in a corner, others go the smarter route and install fishing rod holders, even if it’s something as simple as a PVC pipe rod holder.

Keep Your Fishing Pole & Gear Organized to Save Time & Multitask

Whether you’ve been fishing all of your life or you’re new to fishing, chances are you’ve dealt with tangled lines and hooks that seem to latch onto anything and everything within reach. Fishing’s supposed to be a peaceful sport, right?  A fishing rod holder can save you time and energy. As we mentioned earlier, you can also have multiple lines out at once!

This is especially helpful if you have different setups for different rods, and want to use them all at once. Maybe one rod is set up for top-water fishing, while others are set to go deep. With multiple rod holders, you can do whatever you want to. And you won’t have to worry about tangles or messes.

How Easy Is It to Mount a Rod Holder?

When it comes to mounting rod holders on your dock or in your garage, even someone with minimal carpentry knowledge can do it. The real trick is determining where you want to fasten them. With our B2 Dock/Wall Mounts, simply bolt four screws into the desired location.

Now, if you’re mounting your poles in your garage or on your dock, you’ll want to consider their height, as fishing rods vary in length. Thankfully, it’s not necessary to put all your rod holders at the same height, even if the uniformity might look better to the untrained eye. What’s most crucial is where the tip of your rod will be once it’s in the holder. If mounting your rod holder in the garage, you want it low enough to be off the ground and not so high to touch the ceiling or garage door when opened.

Securing fishing rod holders on your boat is likely going to be a little trickier. You’ll want to make sure that they’re angled away from outboard motors, usually on the side of the boat. But once you do, you have a ton of freedom! Freedom to fish from any angle and have multiple lines out at once.

Fishing Rod Racks & Other Storage Ideas

If you’re already a water enthusiast, then chances are you’ve got a kayak, stand-up paddleboard, or floating mat taking up space on your dock, boat, or in your garage. We have a fix for those too!

In fact, we sell dual-purpose fishing rod holders. Of course, you can use them to secure your fishing rods, but the main purpose is to store the bigger stuff. Take a look:

Perfect for use on your dock or in your garage, these rod holders can be used to not only store your fishing rods, but more importantly they can get kayaks and SUPS out of the way. How? By pairing our dock wall mounts with our storage rack systems. They go perfectly together! Check out all three models:

In case you’re not familiar with our Manta Racks Systems, we want you to understand that these systems can also be paired with the fishing rod holders on your boat. That way you can store your paddleboards and kayak when you’re out on the water too! Easy storage for when you’re cruising out on the water, and then we’re relaxing back at home.

Final Thoughts on Boat Rod Holders

Protect your rod with a rod holder, or two, or three. No one wants to start a fishing trip with a jumbled mess of monofilament and hooks. And in the shuffle of typical garage dealings, items on the floor break easily. Peace in fishing begins with peace of mind at home, and securing your gear helps ensure peace of mind. We’re pretty sure you’ll thank yourself later. If you’re simply looking to use your fishing rod holder to store your fishing rods, then there are a ton of options out there.

But if you’re also looking to store some of the bigger items, like kayaks or paddleboards, let your fishing rod holders do double duty! By mounting our rod holders on your dock or in your garage, not only can you use them as holders for your fishing rods, but you can also use them to store Manta Racks when they’re not in use on your boat. How’s that for double duty?
